W.R. Ramsey & Assoc., Inc. provides structural engineering services, structural / mechanical design services and structural / plate-work shop detailing services. Our staff has extensive experience in material handling projects, coal preparation design, coke processing facilities, industrial plant design, and all aspects of structural and mechanical design and structural detailing.

We are also very experienced in all phases of construction management, fabrication, and erection. Our firm is proud to employ some of the best personnel in the industry which helps us guarantee customer satisfaction.

We have three office locations: Millwood, West Virginia, our northern office, Beckley, West Virginia, our central office, and Bluefield, Virginia, our southern office.  Bluefield is centrally located in the prime coal production area.  It also houses Peters Equipment, our sister company. Each office provide all three of our main services.

 W.R.R. provides engineering services to a variety of customers, including coal companies, coke manufacturing companies, industrial plants, industrial contractors and sub-contractors, steel fabricators and the WV Department of Highways. 

These services include:

• Field inspections of existing facilities to determine their current structural integrity.
• Preliminary and final cost analysis for the correction of existing deficiencies in the structure.
• Preliminary and final cost analysis for new projects.
• Total “turn-key” design packages.

 W.R.R. provides design services to complement the engineering services listed above. 

These services include:

• Conceptual design and proposal packages for bidding purposes.
• Technical specification writing.
• The development of general arrangement drawings to help transform the customer’s original ideas into a final working facility.
• Final “Released for Construction” design packages.

 W.R.R. has a very competent detailing department that is well versed in all aspects of shop detailing procedures.  Detailing has been the backbone of the company since our inception.

• Structural steel detailing.
• Plate-work detailing (including complicated transition developments).
• Ceramic liner placement and cutting layouts.
• Conveyor component detailing.
• Grating, handrail and miscellaneous component detailing.
